Chhattisgarh is proud of its spectacular natural beauty, wildlife, monuments, and tribal mixed traditional rich cultural heritage.
Chhattisgarh was mainly known as Dakshin Kosala which is mentioned in Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Chhattisgarhi Devi temple has 36 pillars on the basis of which it derives its present name.
Chhattisgarh, one of the power and steel generating states of India, was established on 1 November 2000 after the partition from Madhya Pradesh. Raipur is its capital and is bordered by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
This state being the heart of the country, it is full of many historical, religious and natural scenic spots. Many religions have originated here and their propaganda is in place. From the tourism point of view, about 105 big and small places of Chhattisgarh state have been identified as tourist destinations.
How to reach -
Chhattisgarh has a domestic airport which is connected to almost all the airports in the country. Indian Airlines operates regular flights from Chhattisgarh to other parts of the country. Raipur and Bilaspur, the two major railway stations of Chhattisgarh, connect this state to the major railway stations of the country. The road network in Chhattisgarh is also excellent. NH 6, NH 16 and NH 43 highways connect major cities of Chhattisgarh to other parts of the country. The average rainfall occurs in the monsoon. Tourists can visit here from November to January. This time is good for traveling here.
Chhattisgarh tourism throws light on the residents of this region. It is mainly inhabited by rural people. It is mainly inhabited by Gond, Halbi, Halba, Kamar and Oro tribes. The urban people speak the Hindi language while the people of the village speak Chhattisgarhi, the Hindi language. Some tribes also speak Kosli, Oriya and Telugu languages.

1). Chitrakote Falls
Chitrakoot or Chitrakote Falls is an all-weather beautiful waterfall situated on the Indravati River in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh state. Although there are many other waterfalls in the state of Chhattisgarh, the Chitrakoot waterfall is bigger than all. The waterfall, which is inhabited, is fifty kilometers wide and 90 feet high. The noise of this waterfall is so much that nothing is heard behind its sound. The beauty of this waterfall increases during the rainy season because the color of the water becomes brown due to the flow of soil.
2). Manpat
Mainpat is 75 km away from Ambikapur, it is called Shimla of Chhattisgarh. Mainpat is situated on the Vindh Parvat Mala, whose height is 3781 feet above sea level, its length is 28 kilometers and width is 10 to 13 kilometers. There are two routes to go from Ambikapur to Mainpat, the first way is through the Ambikapur-Sitapur road and the second village is via Dima. Goes to Mainpat. It is a beautiful place filled with natural wealth. Sarbhanja waterfall, tiger point, and fish point are the major scenic spots here. The Rihand and Mand rivers originated from Mainpat.
3). Kanker
This old city, about a thousand years old, has a wonderful confluence of forests, waterfalls and tribal villages which attract tourists. The royal family still lives in Kanker's palace. This palace attracts a lot of tourists visiting Chhattisgarh.
4). Kawardha
Kawardha, a small ancient city, gives a glimpse of nature and rich tribal life. Kawardha Nagar is situated on the banks of the river Sakri. The royal palace of Kawardha gives a glimpse of the royal life of India. This palace was built in 1936-37. This palace is now a place for tourists to stay. The city also has a Radha Krishna temple which is another attraction for tourists. Places of interest in Kawardha are Bhomarao Mandwa Mahal and Madan Manjari Mahal.
5). Bhomramdev
It is also called Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh due to beautifully carved erotic idols. This temple is built in the city-style. The Shiva Linga located in the temple is a beautiful specimen of architecture. The temple's outer wall is adorned in 54 erotic postures.
6). Sitganga
Sitganga is an ancient religious city in the Chhattisgarh province of India. Setganga is located on the Bilaspur-Jabalpur national route 130A, 15 km away from the district headquarters Mungeli. You will be surprised to know that there is a temple in India where Ravana is worshiped as the gatekeeper of Lord Rama. Sri Ramjanaki Temple, built in the 10th and 11th centuries, is famous for its many merits. The temple is discussed nationwide due to the beautiful crafts in black stone as well as the statue of Ravana.
7). Champaran
The city of Champaran is the birthplace of Sant Vallabhacharya. The birth anniversary of this famous saint is celebrated every year in the month of April-May. A large number of people come from different places on this occasion. Every year the fair which is held in the month of January-February attracts many tourists.
8). Bastar
This tribal land is an invitation for wildlife lovers, to come here to experience the forests, waterfalls, wildlife, ancient temples and tribal dance and music. It is an important eco-tourism destination in the country. Bastar was once the largest district in India.
9). Sivrinarayan
This place is related to Ramayana. The place is named after Shabari, who served Lord Rama and his wife Sita during their exile. Some people consider this temple of the 10th or 11th century more revered than the temple of Lord Jagannath. The walls of the Nara Narayana temple of Sevarinarayana have figures of Hindu mythological characters. The annual festival held here attracts many tourists from across the country.
10). Indravati National Park
Indravati National Park is the most sophisticated and most famous wildlife life park in Chhattisgarh. This national park is the only tiger reserve in the state of Chhattisgarh. The park is located in the Dantewada district. It is named after the Indravati River, which flows from east to west and forms the northern boundary of this protected forest with the state of Maharashtra. Indravati National Park is spread over an area of approximately 2799.08 square kilometers.
